Celebrities band together in gun control video

Celebrities band together in gun control video
You may have already seen this video, released by the Demand A Plan campaign run by Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Whether or not this is the case doesn’t really matter, because we at TheVine are all for ensuring that the clip goes as viral as possible—especially while there’s such significant public momentum behind gun control in the wake of Newtown’s recent, incredible tragedy.

The video sees a bevy of entertainers, including Beyoncé, Amy Poehler, Carey Mulligan, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm, Jessica Alba and Selena Gomez rally together to create a hard-hitting message in support of gun control. The video also serves to advertise the campaign’s website, which features more information on the demands of the campaign and provides an opportunity for US citizens to sign a pro-gun control petition.
The message in the video becomes all the more pressing in light of the fact that it was released the same day that the National Rifle Association demanded that access to guns be protected. Spread and share people, spread and share.

  1. We protect our president with guns
We protect our country with guns
Every politician has an armed guard.
Yet its crazy to want to protect ourselves with guns.
“You don’t NEED an assault weapon.”
You don’t NEED a sports car. You don’t NEED alcohol.
Both of those kill more people each year than these scary black guns.
Gun owners do not favor gun control. Anyone who says so is lying.
Journalists in New York used the FOIA to get the names and addresses of every gun owner in the city before publishing it in their news paper.
When the gun owners stood up for themselves and posted the journalists’ addresses, they hire armed guards.
The AWB is failing, so “studies” (read as: propaganda) are published that claims they found a link to fire arms and genitalia size.
Many pro-ban politicians are soiling the graves of the children of Sandy Hook to promote their perverted agendas.

“The founding fathers couldn’t comprehend the firearms of today! they didn’t have assault rifles!”

Girandoni Air Rifle. A .46 caliber semi automatic air powered “assault rifle” designed and built in 1779 with a muzzle velocity similar to modern .45 ACP that is whisper quiet and has a capacity of 20 rounds.

“The Second Amendment is for hunting! You can’t hunt with an assault rifle!”

Please allow me to don a tin foil hat for a second.
The 2A was written with tyranny in mind, having just defeated a tyrannical government.

People hunt with AR-15s, AKs, and many other rifles classified as “assault weapons” all the time.

Also, an assault rifle is defined as a rifle capable of selective fire that fires an intermediate cartridge. I urge you to google the NFA of 1934, where machine guns, suppressors, and SBRs (Short Barreled Rifles. As the name implies, it is a rifle with a short barrel. The minimum Federal legal length for a barrel is 16 inches.) are all considered Class II or III, require an extensive background check, waiting period, and a bunch of forms. Machine guns/ Assault rifles have been illegal to manufacture without a license since the Hughes’ Amendment of 1986

The most ignorant thing I’ve heard is a AR-15 does more damage than a Ruger Mini-14 or that a semi-automatic with a 16 inch barrel does more damage than a bolt action rifle in the same caliber with a longer barrel.

In reality, the AR-15 would do ‘less damage’ than the bolt action. The 16 inch barrel loses some potential velocity, and the gas operation cuts down on the velocity as well.

    The .223/5.56 round is actually pretty small compared to other famous hunting cartridges. The .308 Winchester, .270 Win, .300 Win Mag, 6.5 Grendel/Sporter, 7.62x54r, .30-06 Springfield, 8mm Mauser… You get the point. I could go on all day listing popular hunting cartridges that are much larger than the .223 Remington/5.56 cartridge. One cartridge I will quickly mention is .458 SOCOM, a monster cartridge used for dangerous game. This cartridge is an absolute beast. This is straight from Wikipedia;
    250 gr (16 g) 609.6 m/s (2,000 ft/s) 2,938 J (2,167 ft·lbf)

Compare that to the .223 Remington/5.56 NATO cartridge.
    4 g (62 gr) SS109 FMJBT 940 m/s (3,100 ft/s) 1,767 J (1,303 ft·lbf)

Translation; the 5.56 has a higher muzzle velocity, but the .458 SOCOM will really, really, really ruin your day.

The anti-gun media slanders, vilifies, and is just nasty to fire arm owners, regardless of who they are, and despite the pro-guns attempts at removing the ignorance by the anti-guns, the pro-guns are the bad guys. I wouldn’t call it racism, but its really close. I’d label it blind ignorance reinforced by fear of an inanimate object.

Why am I labelled an anti-Government racist, hate filled, insecure, redneck, crazy, anti-progressive, paranoid bigot just because I own a couple scary rifles?
